Friday Goldbrick 809 - Trout Candy

. . . . . . . .You Tubes. . . . . . . .

I found a new blog that I will be wasting countless hours reading... http://jazzandflyfishing.com/.
It will end in disaster.  But Shall i Climb Down?

. . . . . . . . Re-Reading and Re-Reading . . . . . . . .

When anyone mentions trout candy i think of Gierach.  I learned to fly fish by reading him, and now his books have a permanent place on my bathroom shelf, which is, as far as I am concerned, the highest honor for any book.

Look, just from his essay "Trout Candy", we read:
'We're also proud that this is a sport to which our lives are dedicated. (We say "dedicated", others say "wasted" or even "pissed away")"
Nothing else needs to be said.

. . . . . . . . Fly . . . . . . . .

Of course the Trout Candy Gierach was referring to was the Stonefly.  I know there are more recent fly patterns out there for the stonefly, but for me, none are as elegant and beautiful as the Stimulator.  It always deserves to be mentioned as a stonefly imitation even though current patterns are probably more effective
and practical.
